King's College Choir Cambridge Sings J.S. Bach
The world-famous King's College Choir give a resounding performance
in this collection of Bach's choral works, including motets and sacred songs.

King's College Choir, Cambridge, beautifully performs Bach's earliest and most popular funeral motet ('Jesu, Priceless Treasure' BWV 227) in sensitive English translation! Accompanying this motet are seven lovely part-songs (from 'Die Geistliche Lieder und Arien') which take the form of prayers, and two choruses of St. John Passion. Conducted by David Willcocks, organ performed by Simon Preston.

Review:  It's rather nice to go back to the King's way, to the earlier sound under David Willcocks and Simon Preston, and remember what it was that pleased us then. We were not ashamed in those days to accept Bach as a decent Englishman, and we liked to hear his church music in a devotional context.--Gramophone
