Sterling Ring Amethyst Marcasites Vintage Size 7 FAS

This is a large oval sterling silver ring with a bezel-set center amethyst and marcasite accent stones.

The marks read:

  • 925
  • FAS

I've had several nice pieces of jewelry with the FAS mark in the past. This company makes high quality sterling jewelry.

NOTE:  Any discolorations in the pictures are reflections.  In person, the metal color is an even silver.

Inventory #15395.

SIZE:  This ring is a finger size 7, but the shank is plain, so it could be sized up or down by a competent goldsmith or silversmith.  The top is large - 3/4" by 7/8".  The width of the shank at the center bottom is 2.7 mm.  The weight is 6.7 grams.

NOTE:  Because the top of this ring is domed, it fits easily over a large knuckle.

BACKGROUND:  I recently bought more pieces from an incredible vintage jewelry collection amassed from the early 1950s through the 1990s.  There are very few ordinary pieces, as this lady favored high quality, large scale, bold jewelry.  There was something special about just about every piece she owned.

I've listed many pieces over the past year and will be listing many more over the coming months.  Today I'm listing a number of sterling rings.
