Description

Offered here is this Amazing Underwood & Underwood 1901 Sun Sculpture Stereopticon Viewer.  The stereopticon is in very good, working condition, with some wear and a thin layor of suede around the edge where the scope would touch the face, and this suede padding is worn, and beginning to come off.  It is made of all metal, with the exception of the lenses, as well as the wooden handle, slide stop, and slide holder.  The little slide holder is removable, and also in good condition.  There is also a little metal clip on the bottom, that swivels up and down to different angles.  There is one little metal clip missing at the end of the steroview holder.  I am not completely sure, but I believe that this would have been used to clip the stereopticon onto something to steady it, if one has a shaky hand.  The stereopticon is dated 1901, was made in New York by Underwood & Underwood Company, and was patented in 1901, with foreign patents applied for at that time.  It is a wonderful antique stereopticon, and would be a must have addition to any collection.
