RED BURGUNDY OKRA (Abelmoschus esculentus) is an open-pollinated variety originally bred by Leon Robbins at Clemson University after 8 years of careful selection.

Delicious. 75–80 days. This was the most productive red okra we have grown. Red Burgundy produced several tender, 5-7 inch red pods. The plants were quite attractive too, with green leaves that contrast beautifully with the burgundy colored stems and midribs. Plants grow 3-4 feet tall.tall.

Okra is surprisingly nutritious. Just half a cup provides 20% of your daily value for vitamin C and calcium. Okra is also a good source of magnesium, vitamin B6, potassium and more.

About Us

We are a small family run seed processor that has a long tradition of farming for many generations. I fondly remember my Grandfather telling stories about his Grandfather tilling the earth and the events that impacted his success. The stories bring to life the courage and creativity required to survive capricious weather and market prices. Our history makes it clear that the rewards of farming, including the birthing of the calves, the bounty of a good harvest, and the family's feeling of being rooted in the soil. I still remember with pride, getting to sit on my Grandfathers lap while driving the tractor for the first time during corn harvest.

In addition to commercial crops, most family farms also have large gardens to grow much of the food consumed on a farm. Growing your own vegetables, flowers, spices and herbs, canning and freezing were a normal part of life on the farm. We always saved seed from each plant for starting the cycle for the next year. We would like the opportunity to share some of these seeds with you.
