Vintage original 27x41 in. US double-sided one-sheet poster from the popular 1980's fantasy drama/romance, ALWAYS, released in 1989 by Universal-United Artists and directed by Steven Spielberg. Based upon the story, A Guy Named Joe, by Chandler Sprague and David Boehm, the spirit of a recently-deceased expert pilot (Richard Dreyfuss) mentors a new pilot (Brad Johnson) while watching him fall in love with the girlfriend he left behind (Holly Hunter). The cast includes newcomer Brad Johnson and Audrey Hepburn in her final film appearance.
This one-sheet was designed by John Alvin and it features beautiful artwork in the bottom half which depicts Dorinda Durston (Holly Hunter) gazing upwards into the face of pilot Ted Baker (Brad Johnson) as a vintage airplane flies overhead to put-out the forest fire in the background. A color photographic portrait of the film's three top-billed characters (Richard Dreyfuss, Holly Hunter, and John Goodman) is featured in the top half along with the film's beautiful premise. It was printed double-sided for display in a light box at theaters. Unrestored and folded as originally issued, this vintage original one-sheet is in fine+ condition with several creases and light signs of wear on the bottom left corner; two light 3 in. creases at both ends of the top horizontal foldline; and some small creases from handling over time which are unobtrusive. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws.
Always was a remake of the 1943 film, A Guy Named Joe., which boasted a screenplay by the acclaimed blacklisted writer, Dalton Trumbo. This was Audrey Hepburn's final film before her death on January 20, 1993 at the age of 63. She accepted the role of Hap because she wanted to work with Steven Spielberg. She was paid $1 million for her role and donated her entire salary to UNICEF.
