"The Jesus and Mary Chain exploded with a racket! around back in 1984. Somehow, first time around I completely missed them, while loooving this type music (even though before JAMC there was no "type"!) Best description of sound, by time "AUTOMATIC" was released JAMC took early 60's (everything pre-'69) American bubblegum pop, added some Velvet Underground, speeded it up (as The Ramones did late 70's-'80ish), then firmly stamped it with their imitable sound: adding lots of fuzz & distortion, combined with William's skillful lyrics and Jim's vocals containing plenty of moans & groans & there's the "punk/sleaze element" of JAMC!"
