***Wild West Organics Sweet Italian Basil Seeds***
Basil (Ocimum basilicum) probably came from India where it has been used for about 5,000 years.
The word basil is Greek in origin and means 'king' and is referred to as 'the king of herbs' by many cooks.
Mediterranean sweet basil is a culinary herb and a member of the mint family.
Today, basil can be found growing in areas such as the Mediterranean, Thailand, India, and China.
Wild West Organics sweet Italian organic basil 'Genovese' varietal seeds were selected from carefully nurtured and organically grown basil plants. I hand harvested them from my sunny Arizona garden plot. Here, the average annual temperature is 70.9 F.
The attractive looking sweet basil plants can grow to a compact 18-24 inches in height with favorable growing conditions. The bush-like basil thrives when it receives full sun and is planted in well drained, moist soil. It grows well in a herb garden or large container, .
Sweet Italian "Genovese" basil seed variety has tender green leaves, produces a strong, pungent, sweet aroma with warm notes of anise and cloves.
Note: I recommend pinching off center shoots after it has grown about 2 months. This will prevent early flowering, and helps keep the intense anise-like flavor in the leaves.
