Born and raised in the US mid-west, Janet Collins moved to California after high school.Encouraged by her grandmother,an accomplished artist,she took up oil painting,studying at San Bernardino Valley College.
She then moved to Sedona, AZ in 1994.
Janet's love of nature and wildlife is reflected in both her paintings and photography.What started out as a means to acquiring her own resource material for her wildlife paintings,has transformed her into an accomplished photographer.
"The thrill of taking wildlife photos has not diminished even after many wildlife photo trips. The photos that do not make the cut as a photo are used to develop paintings in colored pencil or acrylics."
Janet's paintings and photos have been accepted in numerous juried shows in Arizona, California,Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and Chicago, Illinois have won many awards.
Janet is a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, Sedona Camera Club, member of Women Artists of the West and the Sedona Arts Center.
