#38 in the Nancy Drew Series.
Grosset and Dunlap. Copyright 1961. Farah-coded 1961C-3.
This book was initially published in twenty chapters and with a dust jacket. There was never a text revision/updating.
Only the first three printings, all done in 1961, have a dust jacket. With the next printing, in 1962, and subsequent printings through the years, it was published as a picture cover book, so while not "rare," this book with a dust jacket is certainly a charming conversation piece, and not often seen. This book is the third printing, so the last with a dust jacket.
The tweed book itself is in very good condition, with a slight track developing between the front board and front free endpapers. Blue/white multipictorial endpapers. Owner name on the front dust jacket flap and on the reverse of the front free endpaper. The number "22" is written on the title page. No other writing/markings, but the side block has some staining. The pages themselves are clean and not loose, torn or missing.
The dust jacket rear is pretty good; the front has wrinkle/chipping damage at the lower right corner, and edgewear plus top corner chip at front right, and a vertical fold line about a third from the edge. However, it has held color well and is nicely protected in mylar.
According to Farah's Guide, 12th printing, a 1961C-3 #38 book itself in "very good" condition is worth $25.00, plus the value of a "very good" dust jacket is $200.00, for a total of $225.00.
