Beautiful Gloria Dickson (August 13,1916 - April 10,1945) extremely rare autographed vintage late 1930s or early 1940s double weight 8x10 photo hand signed and inscribed To Eric All my very best wishes in friendship Gloria Dickson in fountain pen.This signature has been authenticated by JSA James Spence authentication Certification Number:AU44699 and will come with the matching cert card you see in the scans. She was an American stage and screen actress of the 1930s and 1940s. Known for They Made Me a Criminal (1939), They Won't Forget (1937), Gold Diggers in Paris (1938), Waterfront (1939), Private Detective (1939) and others. Gloria Dickson died during a fire at the Los Angles home she was renting from actor Sidney Toler, caused by an unextinguished cigarette that ignited an overstuffed chair on the main floor while she slept upstairs. Her body, and that of her pet dog, were found in the bathroom, and it was assumed that she had attempted to escape through the bathroom window. She died from asphyxiation, flames had seared her lungs, and her body had suffered first and second degree burns. This photo has a crease about 1" up from the top left that gradually disappears going to the right and at the bottom left also about 1" up and to the right only about an 1 1/2". The rest of the photo including her image are absolutely striking and beautiful with some remnants on the back from an old mounting. Autographed 8x10 photos of her are impossible to find we have seen only one other she died at only 28 years old.
