Joan Heppell was a 20th Century artist based in Seattle. She is best know for sweeping landscape vistas and still life works in oil, watercolor and pastels. She started her art career at an early age winning awards in the late 1930s. Her work reflects an era of post WII economic and geographic expansion, as the modern automobile became a effective and popular tool for Americans to relocate, as well as travel the country,
"The Open Road" became a symbol of a new beginning of Post War optimism.
