Vintage Pennsylvania Dutch Folk Art
by Ben F. Hoover Whittled RAINBOW TROUT Hand Painted Fish Measures approx. 11"l x 7oe"h on 4oe" diam. base
During
his lifetime, the late Ben F Hoover (1931-2014) whittled approximately
400 pieces of traditional PA Dutch Folk Art which his daughter, Nora
Hoover (1956-2014), assisted in painting. This Old Order Orthodox
Mennonite pair employed traditional designs and repurposed everyday
items to create beautiful depictions of nature and scenes of their
simple life. The bulk of the collection was created from the late
1970's-1990's. Sadly, the two both passed away within months of each other. With their passing the family tradition of whittling also came to an end. This is your opportunity to own a piece of their collection. To provide provenance for your art work, your purchase will include a copy of the "Hoover Estate" Auction listing from 9/2017 Ben's lifelong collection of works was sold at this sale when his wife, Mary Martin Hoover passed away. |
