Striking Picture Jaspar Handle with Sterling Silver Fork.
Here is a true collectors piece - a one of a kind Sterling Silver fork, fully hallmarked, with a picture jaspar handle. This beautifully carved handle is nicely beveled, with a rounded end. The jaspar stone franges in color from a deep red brown to a pale beige, and is polished to a high brilliance.
The Sterling Silver portion of the four-tined fork features a ridged base, and is clearly marked with the head of George IV, the crown Sheffield city mark, the lion facing to the left, and the date letter for 1832. Aaron Hadfield's makers mark was registered in Sheffield in 1818.
The fork measures approximately 7 7/16 inches long. It is 3/4" at its widest point and 9/16" at its deepest point.
