HARD SPUN was a multiple stakes winning bay horse from one of the last crops of DANZIG, a three-time leading sire in North America ut of TURKISH TRYST (TURKOMAN). Foaled at Brushwood Stable in Malvern, on May 10, 2004; HARD SPUN was owned during his racing career by Wilmington, Delaware automobile dealer Richard C. Porter, who races under the Fox Hill Farms banner. HARD SPUN hailed from a stellar foal crop which included the likes of the great CURLIN, the filly extraordinaire RAGS TO RICHES and the previous year's Juvenile Champion - STREET SENSE - the 2007 Triple Crown season will always be one for the ages!

 

Bred for endurance, HARD SPUN ran three times in his two-year-old season in 2006 and ten times in 2007 for a total of thirteen lifetime starts with total purses of $2,673,470 - ranked fourth highest earnings of the year for 2007.

 

Larry Jones had the honor of training HARD SPUN throughout his entire career and Mario Pino rode him for the majority of his races. HARD SPUN, always a fan-favorite competed at the highest level in racing during his career and some of his impressive achievements include winning the Grade I King's Bishop Stakes at and second-place finishes in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and the Breeders' Cup Classic.

 

HARD SPUN retired from racing after the 2007 Breeders' Cup to Darley at Jonabell Farm in with an initial stallion fee of $50,000 where legions of loyal fans converge on a daily basis to visit their racing hero in person.
