This investigative feature examines the unusual circumstances surrounding one of the country's most successful jockeys, CHRIS ANTLEY, who was found dead in his Pasadena home. ANTLEY died on December 2, 2000, and there was speculation that he may have been murdered because police said that he died of severe head trauma. An autopsy and investigation later resulted in his death being ruled as accidental and the effect of a drug overdose. Friends of the fallen jockey, however, still dispute those claims, and in January after his death, police arrested two men for breaking into ANTLEY's garage. Officials investigate the crime scene and decipher clues to determine the cause of the crime...was it suicide or homicide?

This feature follows the Los Angeles Coroner's Office as specialists use the latest in forensic medicine and investigative techniques to solve cases.

ANTLEY rode 1999 Horse-of-the-Year CHARISMATIC to victories in the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness Stakes (G1) before finishing third in the Belmont Stakes (G1) when the colt injured his left front leg. ANTLEY quickly dismounted from the colt and held the injured limb until help arrived, creating a scene that is one of recent Thoroughbred racing's most enduring moments, and his actions were credited with helping to save CHARISMATIC's life. ANTLEY also won the 1991 Kentucky Derby aboard STRIKE THE GOLD.

For anyone who followed the tumultuous and troubled career of this humble and talented rider...a sad ending to such a seemingly bright and promising future.
