This is a lovely vintage Eskimo or Inuit pendant signed by the artist on the back “E. Zemp” or “E. Qemp” and “CANADA”. It depicts the daily life of a native fisherman in Alaska or Canada. You can even see the tip of a Kayak sitting on the edge of the hole in the ice. The hole is bored through the ice and the Inuit fisherman is using a harpoon with a projectile head that is fastened to the hand-held line to fish with. The pendant measures approximately 1 ½ inches tall and 1 ¼ inches wide. I was unable to find any information about the artist, but there are various regions in Canada where many of the descendants of the Inuit people live.
This pendant is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. There is a little wear on the back of the pendant of the gold tone finish. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe.
This would be a wonderful addition to any collection of vintage handcrafted jewelry.
