Kindergarten Round-up is fast approaching.  What better way to aquaint your child with their entry into school than using this awesome Fisher Price Little People #2550 School and Playground! The set is 100% COMPLETE (including the RARE Fisher Price chalk) and is in NEAR MINT condition. Plus, this offering features its original box and cardboard interior inserts.

Manufactured between 1988-90, this is one of the last of the Little People playsets created by Fisher Price before they were bought out by Mattel. This is a great set to introduce young children to the concept of riding the bus and going to school.

This set affords all kinds of fun-packed possibilities. The school itself has a steeple that can be depressed to cause a series of letters, pictures, and words to rotate through a window in the roof. The other side of the school house roof affords a cafeteria style lunch line. If you place the characters on the pathway and turn the crank, they move along down the lunch line. If you move them too far, they tumble down a curlicue orange slide onto the attached playground. The front of the school sports a moveable clock and the side flap of the school opens to give the children easy access to the interior of the school. The school room offers built-in desks for the students and teacher. And, if the students, or the teacher for that matter, gets a little "antsy," they can disappear thru a trap door out onto the playground. The inside flap is a "pseudo chalk- board." Although Fisher Price issued chalk to go with this set, the "chalk-board" is, in reality, a litho. Many of these chalkboard lithos have crumbled over time but this one is intact.

The playground offers all kinds of possibilities for fun! The gate opens and closes, the children can twirl along a balance beam, climb up and slide down the slide, hide inside the white barrel, jump rope, or play with a friend on the built-in teeter totter.

The school and playground's lithos, plastic parts etc., are generally in GREAT condition (NEAR MINT-MINT) with no cracks, chips, scratches, "dings," abrasions, or discolorations. All of the moving parts smoothly operate as designed (e.g. trap door, balance beam, teeter totter, cafeteria line, Walk/Don't Walk sign, steeple and alphabet scroll, clock hands etc.).

After repeatedly scrutinizing the EXTERIOR and INTERIOR lithos, the ONLY "imperfections" I can spot are:

1. One, barely perceptible light brown stain and one, 1/4" L x 1/16" W bubble on the basketball bankboard litho;

2. A smattering of small, thin bubbles on the "brickwork" on the playground side of the school; these are virtually impossible to spot; I had to hold the base up within 3" of my eyes and rotate it in the light to see these; they DEFINITELY DO NOT detract from the overall appearance or functioning of this playset;

3. Approximately a half dozen light brown stains on the lunch line litho; these appear to have been caused by the underlying glue leaching through the litho; it's doubtful that these will be erradicated during the cleaning process;

4. Some minor loosening of the chalkboard litho in the upper right hand corner and one minute spot of edge wear on the lower right hand corner of the same chalkboard; I will be reanchoring the chalkboard with Rubber Cement so it shouldn't pose any future problems.

All of the other EXTERIOR and INTERIOR lithos are PRISTINE (MINT)!

Many of the accessories included with this playset are UNIQUE and EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND:

1 RARE small, yellow school bus (MINTY MINT--this piece is UNIQUE to this set);

1 VHTF yellow skateboard (MINTY MINT--this piece is UNIQUE to this set);

1 VHTF white barrel (MINTY MINT--this piece is UNIQUE to this set);

1 VHTF box of chalk (NEAR MINT-MINT box--EXTREMELY minor rubs and edge wear ; chalk is unbroken and unused--MINTY MINT);

1 VHTF working orange/red jump rope (MINTY MINT--this piece is UNIQUE to this set);

1 RARE "Walk, Don't Walk" sign (MINTY MINT--this piece is UNIQUE to this set);

1 RARE white Fisher Price flag with litho of 2 children (MINTY MINT---this piece is UNIQUE to this set); and 5 ALL plastic figures. These include:

1 VHTF red bodied teacher with blonde hair and half moon glasses (EXC++-NR MINT--"hint" of barely visible scratch on left cheek; pin-head size rub on right eye and right upper edge of glasses; this piece is UNIQUE to this playset);

1 EXTREMELY RARE African-American girl w/black hair in bun (NR MINT--miniscule scratch on chin; have to hold piece up to within 3" to your eyes and rotate in the light to appreciate this; this is the first time I've even noticed this; this piece is UNIQUE to this set)

1 EXTREMELY RARE blue bodied African-American boy w/molded black hair (MINTY MINT; once again, this piece ONLY came in conjunction with this play set);and

1 EXTREMELY RARE light orange girl with brown sculpted hair and glasses(EXC++-light fading to lower edges of eye glasses and nose; one, 1/16" L scratch below the left hand corner of the mouth; this is EXTREMELY hard to see; otherwise, MINT; this figure ONLY came with this playset); and

1 yellow bodied smiling boy with red cap (MINTY MINT).

The box itself is in PHENOMENAL condition. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest, I would rate this box as being a 9.0/10. There is some faint staining on the bottom of the box (probably due to some moisture in the past), an extraneous Santa sticker on one end of the box, a few rubs, a piece of tape conifirming its purchase from an Ames Store, and its original sealing tape. There are no punctures, tears, creasing, bowing, or smushing anywhere on this box. All flaps are present and intact. This box would definitely be a prize for display purposes.

I will be thoroughly Q-tip cleaning this play set and all of its accessories prior to shipping it to its new owners. I spend a MINIMUM of 1 - 1 1/2 hours cleaning each and every Vintage set that I sell (except those that come from My Rough Room). My sets are IMMACULATELY CLEAN!

This is an AWESOME play set for Collectors and children alike. You won't find many in this good of shape or with all the appropriate pieces.
