CAB Comment––Always a publisher of consumer-friendly, cost-effect editions of the classics during the early-to-mid 1900s, Walter J. Black still managed to offer some very interesting tomes.  And “tome” is a term that truly describes The Giant International Series.  This all-inclusive volume looks like what should be titled the “Kipling Royal Bible To The Throne”.  The very gothic, bas-relief cover and spine state boldly “Welcome to the castle, I’ll be waiting for you in the armory.”  This is a serious Kipling collection that almost demands to be read by torchlight as the knights are gathering for the ‘morrow’s battle.  Contained within these copious pages are some of my favorite Kipling tales, especially “The Man Who Would Be King”.  If you haven’t ever seen the film adaptation directed by John Huston, and starring Sean Connery and Michael Caine, you should…it’s exuberant, yet grim, and simply excellent.
