Alfred Meakin Fair Winds brown, very lightly used 10-1/2 inch dinner plate. The central design shows the Friendship of Salem, a 3-masted Salem East Indiaman built by Enos Briggs in 1797. This sailing ship traveled the world completing at least 15 trips to the Orient and Europe carrying exotic trade goods. The ship was captured by the British in the war of 1812. A replica of the Friendship of Salem has been built and is docked at the Salem Maritime National Historic Site. The four decorative panels show the American eagle, New York Harbor in 1830, the US Delaware Capturing Le Croyable, and Canton Port in 1830. These dishes are in excellent condition with very few minor surface marks. Shipping cost may be adjusted if multiple items are ordered. Please inquire.
