The lavishly mounted silent film costume drama/romance, MONSIEUR BEAUCAIRE, was released in 1924 by Paramount Pictures and directed by Sidney Olcott. The film stars Rudolph Valentino as the Duke de Chartres/ Monsieur Beaucaire. The image features a beautiful shot of the Duke de Chartres (Rudolph Valentino) proudly standing on a wide exterior stairway as he stands to survey the scene in front of him. Valentino is shown wearing an elegant white period costume with a tri-cornered hat and is surrounded by other characters who are also wearing elegant upper-class French period attire. The Paramount logo appears in the lower right corner.

Printed on single-weight stock with a glossy finish, this is a vintage original photograph that was printed at the time of the film's initial theatrical release. It is in fine+ condition with lights signs of wear on or near both of the top corners and the bottom left corner; a light 3.5 in. horizontal crease in the far right portion of the top border that extends downwards diagonally through the top right corner of the image; a light 0.75 in. diagonal crease on the bottom right corner within the borders; and and light signs of wear in the bottom border near the left corner. This photograph comes from the collection of Sydney Barker, one of the prominent early collectors on Valentino, as indicated by his handwritten notation on the verso in black ink (This photo is from the Sydney Barker collection.
