they're romantic comedies that ironically she would be reprising 10
years later in movies like "Pillow Talk." She sings on these early
films, though, and it's this that makes them worthwhile.On IT'S MAGIC,
the cream of the movie is skimmed and neatly presented minus the dated
dialogue. Day's vocals are the timeless element, displaying an emotional
gravity and sensuality in startling contrast to the rest of the film.
From comic routines like "Someone Like You," and rhythm numbers like
"Tic Tic Tic," to ballads such as "It's Magic," Doris Day brings relief
to an otherwise flat landscape.
