I had the pleasure of speaking with the artist Daniel Gaumer, after posting the vase on an art glass information group where he happened to see this.

He now owns Topton Glassworks of Topton, Pennsylvania. 

He made it when he and Stephen Rich Nelson worked as partners in the early 1990’s at Double Vision Glassworks.

I asked about the seam from the bottom of the neck down the sides and figured 

the only way to get the diagonal mesh pattern, that crisscross’s on either side,

 was to blow them as 2 separate pieces.

He said this was correct and done from a wire door mold. 

The top spout and rim are 1 piece.
