Vintage - Lmt.-Ed. - David Frederick Gray Marble Etching Entitled “The Kansas Legend” - RARE!

You are bidding on a VERY RARE David Frederick Gray marble etching entitled “The Kansas Legend”. This is a limited-edition piece, number 781/2500.

This wonderfully detailed rendering of the State of Kansas is etched into fine white marble and includes many of the state’s most iconic landmarks like the state capitol building in Topeka, the sunflower and the Chisholm Trail and historical figures including President Eisenhower, John Brown and Carrie Nation.

Framed in a "tattered wood frame look", the etching itself measures 16" X 12", the frame measures 24" X 20" and weighs 8.5 pounds.

David Frederick Gray lived primarily as a Kansas City artist with a unique ability to capture, with keen sensitivity and detail, the essence of his scenes. Gray was the creator of many "city scenes", such as "City of Des Moines", a spectacular skyline rendering which was selected as the official commemorative gift for Pope John Paul II on his visit to that city. David had showings throughout the Southwest and Northwest United States and was honored in New York City by the Society of Illustrators for his work. David was the Art Director for the Veterans of Foreign Wars magazine, which reached over two million subscribers monthly.

Condition:

There is some VERY MINOR scuffing on the wood but that could be easily covered with varnish or polish. As with any pre-owned and previously displayed piece, anyone looking for additional defects may find them, so we can’t guarantee this is 100% blemish free, but it is in wonderful vintage condition!
