A set of 2 beautiful Texas Hill Country Bluebonnet prints. These scenes are painted from the “minds eye” of landscape and wildlife artist, James Lasswell, and have been professionally reproduced in print.

In "Hill Country Retreat" the cumulus clouds give notice of the recent rains that have brought the bluebonnets and other wildflowers forth in abundance this year. As the viewer travels down the well-traveled lane, they are returned to a simpler time, when one had the opportunity to stop and ponder the beauty of this yearly ritual, a season when the rocky landscape is dyed with the vibrant shades of blue and green. The open gate and homestead in the distance are reminders that the road home is generally always a pleasant one and the presence of good friends and family offers a retreat from the bustle that comprises our daily lives.

In "The New Fence", the early morning sun bathes the valley in the distance with hues of gold and yellow in contrast with the Texas blue sky. The abundant spring rains have brought forth the lush green foliage and wildflowers to dominate the landscape, only yielding to the tracks made by the occasional visit of a rancher’s truck and kept worn by the cattle and wildlife, who follow them from one pasture to another. A relic of the past, so prominent in the Hill Country, the rock fence, has been replaced with the more efficient and easily maintained version of barbed wire and cedar posts. One can only imagine the owner’s reluctance to have replaced this beautiful architectural masterpiece, placed there from the sweat of the brow of his forefathers. Perhaps he can take solace in the fact that remnants of their hard work will remain evident after “the new fence” is long gone.

James has been painting and drawing for many years, perfecting his technique and unique style.
