Iris ’Red Velvet Elvis’ is a phenomenally beautiful iris.  The depth and concentration of color is unsurpassed – while considered a red, it has a deep purple hue, with red overtones.  Winner of the “Mary Swords DeBaillon Medal” in 2007 – the Mary Swords DeBaillon Medal is the highest award bestowed by the Society of Louisiana Irises.

Her swords are evergreen and blooms for 4 to 6 weeks in mid-spring.  She is comfortable in full sun to partial sun in zones 6 through 10.

She is very easy to grow in a broad spectrum of conditions from containers to landscape beddings to water’s edge to use as a pond planting.  Even though she readily accepts wet feet, her water requirements can be met with a moderate level of watering in the first year and then no supplemental watering there after.

The plant you will receive has a well established rhizome ready to grow in your garden.  Depending upon the time of year, her swords may be trimmed back.  She will be bare root shipped – this will not hurt her – by priority shipping methods.
