This letter opener was given, I believe, to customers of Fuller Brush.  Back then Fuller Brush called at your home every now and then to see if you needed any brushes or brooms.  I don't think the letter opener was an item that was available for purchase.  I have seen them in many colors, including clear.  Some show a female salesperson and others a male salesperson.  This one is red and a male salesperson.
