Item description for Michaela Frey Team FreyWille Toucan Bird Enamel Pendant Austria Signed

This is a stunning pendant by the Michaela Frey Team of a tropical Toucan Bird sitting on a branch. It is stamped on the back “Micaela Frey Team”. It is done in black, gold, orange, gray and yellow enamel finish with 24 karat gold accents. It is a semi-circular or half-moon gold plated shape that measures approximately 2 inches wide and 2 inches tall (including the bale). This was originally on a silk cord necklace. The company was founded in 1951 in Vienna, Austria by Michaela Frey; she started creating items by painting on fire enamel. She passed away in 1980 and the company was taken over by Dr. Friedrich Wille. The company is in business today under the name of FreyWille or Frey Wille GmbH & Co KG, and is sold worldwide.

This pendant is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. There are some minor imperfections in the enamel on the front that only show with the enlarged photos, you don’t see them with the naked eye and they appear to be original to the handcrafted piece. The back of the pendant is textured with tiny squares, a few which need to be cleaned inside the squares. I did not want to use a jewelry cleaner and risk damaging the surface.
