Confronted by the stark austerity of the Egyptian landscape, ROBERTS added human figures and altered architectural features to convey the emotions the subject evoked in him.

These 30 magnificent postcards are reproduced from Booklet of VIEWS OF EGYPT and NUBIA, the final section of his monumental THE HOLY LAND: SYRIA, IDUMEA, ARABIA, EGYPT and NUBIA, which is widely considered to be one of the finest examples of the art of tinted lithography.
