LeRoy Neiman classic commemorates the Bay area’s rich tradition of Baseball and the famous “Earthquake” World Series of 1989. This Limited Edition Serigraph was completed after the original painting by LeRoy Neiman which he created after the “Earthquake” World Series of 1989. Neiman’s rendering is a fantasy scene that shows an assemblage of past and present Bay Area players around the batting cage on October 17th, 1989, Game 3 of the 1989 World Series. Twelve great stars of Bay Area Baseball history are depicted in this composition, spanning 60 years of baseball history. These players include Dave Parker, Jose Canseco, Will Clark, Joe DiMaggio, Willie McCovey, Kevin Mitchell, Orlando Cepeda, Willie Mays, Mark McGwire, Reggie Jackson, Lefty O’Doul, and Dave Kingman. Neiman captures a relaxed batting practice he witnessed himself at Candlestick Park (“3:10 PM”), just two hours before the great earthquake that day.
