While this edition is a reprint of the 1952 edition of the same name, the original was published with a dust jacket, while the reprint was published as a glossy hardcover.  This copy can be considered to be a first edition of the glossy edition, based upon the list of titles at the rear of the book, which include WALT DISNEY'S PETER PAN (a very rare limited edition Whitman hardcover with dust jacket), as well as ROY ROGERS AND THE GOPHER CREEK GUNMEN and GENE AUTRY AND THE THIEF RIVER OUTLAWS, neither of which were released in the glossy format, but only with dust jackets.  All of the other titles listed were either previously published Whitman series titles, or 1954 releases -- NONE of the titles listed include later books.  As noted on the title page, Gene Autry was also a star of television, and this book would have been marketed to Gene's new TV fans, as well as his older fans from the movies. He's "back in the saddle again," pardners!
