The Replacements were an American rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1979. Initially a punk rock band, they are considered pioneers of alternative rock. The band was composed of the guitarist and vocalist Paul Westergerb, guitarist Bob Stinson, bass guitarist Tommy Stinson and drummer Chris Mars for most of its career.
Robert Neil "Bob" Stinson (December 17, 1959 - February 18, 1995), founding member of The Replacements was a long-term alcoholic and drug addict which caused an organ failure. His body was found in his Uptown, Minneapolis apartment with an unused insulin syringe next to it. With him went much of the band's edge.
