FREEDOM, LOYALTY, DISSENT
by Henry Steele Commager
Oxford University Press,1954
First Edition
Condition: VG+ to Near Fine in VG- dj

Authored by a noted writer on American history and politics, this was a significant book in the '50s.  It helped waken many Americans to the real value of the liberties they stood to lose and showed them how to check the powers of darkness (exemplified by Joseph McCarthy) that seemed determined to extend their sway over all of American life.  A couple of corner bumps but little other wear on the book.  The jacket is rubbed, the back cover has a horizontal crease and there are some short tears and wear on the spine ends and corners, but otherwise in decent shape.
