JOE STRONG THE BOY WIZARD
OR THE MYSTERIES OF MAGIC EXPOSED
by Vince Barnum
George Sully & Co., c. 1916
Condition: Good+

This was the first title (of seven) in a boys' series  featuring young Joe Strong, who, from the titles of his adventures and his "portrait" on the front cover,  seems to have been intended as a combination of a circus acrobat, Harry Houdini and Joe Bonamo (a famous strongman and movie stuntman of the time).  He's a magician's assistant in this one, though he also nearly joins the circus  (where he is to become a performer in his second novel).  Moderate cover corner fraying, modest spine end fraying,  a back cover wrinkle, some staining and soiling on the exterior and interior, some page corner creases and one short page edge tear/crease; but a sturdy binding and no page markings.  Very scarce in the Sully edition.
