This is a stunning pair of dress clips in an antique silver tone. Each clip has three large simulated or faux turquoise nuggets or cabochons that are prong set. I believe they are made from an acrylic or plastic. Surrounding the three large stones as accents are ten small blue inset round beads. There is a snake scale design that weaves its way around the clip with silver balls at the end of the snakes. It gives the clips the skyscraper stepped appearance that was so popular in the Art Deco period. The snake design shows on the back as well. The clip backs have eight spikes on each one. The clips measure approximately 1 3/4 inches long and 1 1/4 inches wide. They are unsigned and I believe they are from the 1940s.

They are in very good vintage condition with a dark patina to the silver metal. There is one small bead missing as you can see in the photographs, but because it is so small you don't really notice it. You could easily take a tiny drop of enamel paint and fill in the hole or replace with a similar bead. The clip mechanisms work fine. I leave all cleaning and polishing to your discretion.

Many people call dress clips, fur clips, but they are quite different in style. Fur clips consist of two long sharp prongs which were attached to the back of the clip. They were made this way so they wouldn't damage the fur pelts. Dress clips have teeth to grasp the material. These can be worn in so many ways, individually or as a pair. A single clip on the V neck of a sweater or your little black dress would change the entire appearance of the outfit. They have a Native American look to them because of the turquoise stones so they would look great on the collar of a Southwestern design shirt.
