One of the beautiful things about this premium distressed leather is that it is thick and matte and adds a rustic authentic look to the bag.
Mind that due to this "raw" look of the leather it may include some small imperfections as it is part of working with this genuine leather. 
Distressed Leather is also known as "waxed" leather. The reason for this name is because of the use of waxes during tanning process to create an antique, rustic, well aged look. The waxes used also contribute to the leather aging well after years of use.
