THIS MONTH's COVER: NOT MANY YEARS AGO the sight of a foreign-made automobile started heads spinning and tongues wagging. The driver of an alien car found himself continually leading a parade of curious motorists. Not so today. European-made autos appear in towns and cities everywhere, and names like Austin, MG and Jaguar no longer have a strange old-world flavor. But that sleek, low car framed by an arch of Roman ruins on our cover would cause hEads to spin almost anywhere. It's an Italian Ferrari. Only 10 racing cars and 150 sports cars are built by Ferrari each year, and they sell for upwards of $12,000 apiece. Floyd Clymer visited the Ferrari factory to acquire material for his extensive survey of European cars, which began in lost month's issue. The second part of his report starts on page 126. The painting reproduced above is by Bill Johnson, one of the youngest and best cover artists in the world of magazine art.
