Vintage original 4x5 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the classic 1960's television action crime drama series, THE UNTOUCHABLES, starring Robert Stack as Eliot Ness. The photo is from Season 2, Episode 18, which was entitled The Underground Court, and depicts an exterior medium shot near a group of tress as Eliot Ness (Robert Stack) points at something off-camera as he and Hannah "Lucy" Wagnall (Joan Blondell) hold a bird cage. The legendary Miss Blondell is wearing a black "widow's" dress with white gloves. As indicated in the top right corner, this is photograph number 4 from the set of publicity photos that were printed to either advertise or document this episode. It is in very fine- condition with a light 0.25 in. diagonal crease on the top right corner; a very light 0.5 in. diagonal crease on the bottom of Stack's left leg; and light signs of wear on the tip of the bottom right corner. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws and the image quality is razor-sharp with fine detail and nice rich contrast.
Episode plotline: Mobster Valentine Ferrar (Richard Devon) thinks he has the
perfect way to steal $500,000 of the syndicate's money. When a passenger liner
returning from Cuba catches fire off the New Jersey coast, he fakes his death
and sends his underling to the Underground Court, the mob's court of law, to
tell them he drowned. They are soon on his trail, however, so when he meets up
with a kooky widow, Hannah Wagnall (Joan Blondell), they set off on what she calls a second
honeymoon. What he doesn't realize is that Wagnall has her own plans and that
she's gone on these second honeymoons before. Ness and his men, with the help
of State Police, track Valentine and Wagnall across several states as they too
try to not only get the money but hopefully find out where the Underground
Court meets.
