Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy signed photograph from the popular 1940's comedy, DOUBLE DATE, released in 1941 by Universal Pictures and directed by Glenn Tryon. Penny Kirkland's (Peggy Moran) Aunt Elsie (Una Merkel) and Jerry Bladwin's (Rand Brooks) widower father, Roger Baldwin (Edmund Lowe), are attracted to each other. Preventing the pending marriage of the father and the aunt becomes a purpose in life for the two teen-agers. Their mutual dislike of each other - which only lasts about 45 minutes of this 60 minute film - cuts down their effectiveness in breaking up the match.
The image features a beautiful exterior close shot of Penelope "Penny" Kirkland (Peggy Morgan) enjoying the affections of Jerry Baldwin (Rand Brooks) as they stand near a sun-dappled tree. This photograph was signed in blue ink by Rand Brooks ("Best wishes - Rand Brooks"). It is in good- condition only with multiple creases in the top border with a chip on the right corner; a 1 in. vertical tear on the top border that was reinforced on the verso with a piece of clear Scotch tape; some scratches and a light 3 in. horizontal crease in the top center of the upper background; a light 1 in. diagonal crease through the "d" in "Rand" within his signature: and some small creases in the lower portion of the image and bottom border There are no pinholes, stains, or other flaws.
Silent Cinema Inc. (the seller here) guarantees the authenticity of Rand Brooks' signature.
