Vintage original 7.25 x 9.25 in. US single-weight glossy candid on-set photograph taken during the making of the 1950’s divorce-themed drama, PAYMENT ON DEMAND, released in 1951 by Warner Bros. and directed by Curtis Bernhardt. The image features and interior medium shot inside of a sound stage on the Warner Bros. lot and depicts the film’s star, Bette Davis, seated in her chair about to light a cigarette as her 3-year old daughter, Barbara Davis Sherry, sits in a smaller version of Miss Davis’ chair. Little Barbara made her acting debut as Davis’ daughter in this film. On the verso are two rubber stamps crediting King Features Syndicate. Also included is the original paper snipe caption which has separated from the photo but is fully intact.
Printed on single-weight stock with a glossy finish, this vintage original candid photograph is in fine- condition with a light 4 in. vertical crease starting on the top border and going downwards to the immediate left of Barbara’s head and a 1.25 in. semi-circular shapes crease beneath it; and a 0.25 in. diagonal crease on the top right corner.
