The official mascot for the World Cup tournament was PIQUE, a jalapeno pepper, characteristic of Mexican cuisine, with a mustache, a Colimote sombrero, and Mexican football team colours. Its name comes from 'Picante', Spanish for spicy peppers and sauces.
