(2) Two Antique Cabinet Card Photographs. The studio portrait of the couple by photographer Atelier Kohler identifies them on the back as simply "Grandfather & Mother Zierold." However, two other images we have of Mr. Zierold dated 1915 showing him in uniform while serving in the German Army indicate his name is Kurt (although it appears to be spelled Kwrt and Cowrt in those images). The other cabinet photo taken in a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania studio is most likely of their son. It reads on the back, "Grandpa Zierold, Dad's Father." Measure approximately 4.25 x 6.5 including mounts. Condition: These are original photographs, not a copy or reproduction. They both have some corner wear including a large chip in the lower right corner of the couple portrait, and some scuffs and soiling. Comments: These images originally came as part of a group lot of Zierold family photographs (all sold separately.) They include: "Uncle Kwrt, Cowrt or Kurt Zierold who served as a German Soldier during the WWI era (including two real photo postcards in uniform and a cabinet photo taken with his wife in a studio in Germany); their relatives Clara Zierold (high school style graduation portrait taken in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania); and possibly Clara's sister Marie Zierold who was working in 1921 at the Westinghouse Air Brake Co. in Pittsburgh (three photos of Marie, one as a baby, one real photo postcard of her as a little girl with her doll; and a high school era graduation portrait. One provides her married name which is not decipherable, but starts with the letter "G"); and a cabinet photo of "Grandpa Zierold, Dad's Father" also taken in a Pittsburgh studio.
