CAPTAIN JOHN SMITH, GENTLEMAN               ADVENTURER                                              by C. H. Forbes-Lindsay                                      Color Illustrations by Harry B. Lachman              J. B. Lippincott Co., Early Printing, 1911             Condition: Near Fine in Good+ dust jacket

This is a fact-based historical novel about the founder of  the first English colony in America at Jameston, Virginia.  The book was first published in 1907  - this is a somewhat later printing of the first edition.  304 pages, enhanced by four striking color plates.   Some slight external wear, pencilled gift presentation on ffep, just minimal page toning, couple of tiny  page stains.  Covers are bright, binding is tight.   Bonus: Laid-in vintage Lippincott advertising card, in excellent condition. Dust cover has lower-edge tears on front and by spine on back; also a few short tears and some chipping.  Still, this very scarce pictorial jacket is unusually well-preserved with no fading.
