Measures 5-17/32" X 7-15/32", 127 pp, b&w photos and text by David Douglas Duncan, stated "FIRST PRINTING, APRIL, 1968," published by New American Library (NY), Signet Special Broadside paperback #N3546.
David Douglas Duncan was a combat photographer, implanted with the U. S. Marine Corps troops of the 26th Regiment, who were under constant siege in February 1968 by both the army of North Vietnam and the National Liberation Front (aka Viet Cong). This book is nearly all b&w photographs shot by Duncan during the siege, and portrays the bravery and agony of the young men sent to Vietnam, although it is also includes Duncan's essay regarding the wisdom of the Vietnam War. A beautiful but visually upsetting study of young men in combat conditions.
