Vintage original 27x41 in. US one-sheet poster from the popular 1970's western comedy biopic BUFFALO BILL AND THE INDIANS, OR SITTING BULL'S HISTORY LESSON, released in 1976 by United Artists and directed by Robert Altman. Paul Newman stars as a cynical Buffalo Bill who hired Sitting Bull (Frank Kaquitts) to exploit him and add his credibility to the distorted view of history presented in his Wild West Show.
Created when movie posters consisted of beautiful artwork instead of today's cheap photographic paste-ups, this poster was designed by the renowned Disney artist David Willardson and features his signature beneath the image of Annie Oakley (Geraldine Chaplin) in the lower right corner of the image area. The design features portraits of various characters from the film including President Grover Cleveland (Pat McCormick) and the First Lady (Shelley Duvall) as well as a nice large heat shot of Paul Newman, with his famous blue eyes, as Buffalo Bill Cody along with another image of Cody astride his rearing horse. Folded as originally issued, this vintage original US one-sheet poster was never used. It is in very fine condition without any pinholes, tears, or stains. When it was folded, it had a light diagonal fold that is replicated on each panel but which is very unobtrusive. The colors are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
