Inside the trap there are short little trigger hairs. If anything bends these hairs, the trap will close on it in less than a second! Don't think you can trick your trap though. They are very smart. If anything besides a decent sized bug goes into the trap, it will reopen in approximately 12 hours to spit it out. If your Fly Trap decides it likes its meal, it will reopen once it has digested it which usually takes about 5-12 days.
