Here for your consideration is a 100% complete, Vintage Fisher Price Fun with Food #2136 Homemade Pizza play set. Manufactured for 2 years (1988-1990), this set allowed children to create a realistic looking pizza.
The play set consisted of a simulated dough base, a pastry bag to keep the dough "fresh," and a handy pop-top pizza to store all the "ingredients." The tasty ingredients included some pretend tomato sauce, grated cheese, and pepperoni toppings. Children could assemble the pizza and serve it on a "personal" size pizza pan. Designed for children ages 3-7 years of age, this play set was part of Fisher Price's wildly acclaimed Fun with Food series.
This particular offering, in my opinion, is in VG++ condition. The only things I can find remiss are a slight darkening/soiling of the pastry bag. I'm going to see if I can wash this in Oxi-clean to brighten it up and some fading of the Pizza Sauce label.
This is a wonderful set to fuel a child's imagination. It would also make a great set for a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist to work on early dramatic play scenerios, sequencing skills, or to re-enact common children's storybooks and beginning narrative skills (e.g. the children's book Pizza Party is a great one to utilize). It could also be used as a concrete motivational tool to complete various therapy tasks. For example, the clinician could reward the child with one of the pieces after the successful completion of each therapy task. The child can readily gauge their progress in finishing the therapy task as their pizza is assembled. It gives the child a concrete representation of how much work they need to complete before moving on to the next activity.
This set is not a part of the recent Fisher Price recall of items produced in China. The dough, sauce, cheese, and pepperoni were manufactured in Korea. The bag was crafted in Mexico and the pizza pan and can were created in the U.S.A.
This set weighs 12 oz. UNWRAPPED. My location is Lafayette, IN (47905).
