Hollyhock is a biennial. This is one of my favorite cut flowers. The plants mostly produce pink and red flowers, but some yellow, violet and purple also blooms with this species. The plant can be grown in all hardiness zones 3-9.

This beautiful and hardy heirloom hollyhock variety produces large spikes that bear fully double 4 inch flowers from early spring to frost. Plants grow to approximately 6 feet tall with massive amounts of double blooms in colours of rose, scarlet, pink, yellow, violet, and purple. These double flowers have much more body than most common hollyhock varieties.

We are a small family run seed processor that has a long tradition of farming for many generations. I fondly remember my Grandfather telling stories about his Grandfather tilling the earth and the events that impacted his success. The stories bring to life the courage and creativity required to survive capricious weather and market prices. Our history makes it clear that the rewards of farming, including the birthing of the calves, the bounty of a good harvest, and the family's feeling of being rooted in the soil. I still remember with pride, getting to sit on my Grandfathers lap while driving the tractor for the first time during corn harvest.
 
In addition to commercial crops, most family farms also have large gardens to grow much of the food consumed on a farm. Growing your own vegetables, flowers, spices and herbs, canning and freezing were a normal part of life on the farm. We always saved seed from each plant for starting the cycle for the next year.
