Mrs. Webber, whose work ranges from small collages of fantastic sailboats to serious oils depicting the Maine coast, is fascinated by color and pattern. Although her paintings would be considered representational, one finds a touch of whimsy and imagery creeping through many of them. Semi abstraction, Mrs. Webber feels, lends a definite interest and charm to certain subjects.
A graduate of Wellesley College, she studied "general art†for two years at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y. - thereafter taking courses, as opportunity offered, at the Art Students League, the Grand Central Art Galleries, the Berkshire Summer School of Art and the Academie Colarossi in Paris.
Before her marriage to the late Ralph Webber of Augusta, Mrs. Webber "free-lanced†for a number of years in New York City - with an interval as Occupational Therapist in United States General Hospital No. 3, Colonia, N.Y.
Her drawings and paintings have been shown in many group exhibits through Central Maine - the Farnsworth Museum, Rockland; Maine Art Gallery, Wiscasset; Harlow Gallery, Hallowell; and Portland Sidewalk Shows.
Mrs. Webber’s "one-woman†shows include the Moulton Union, Bowdoin College; the Bangor Public Library; the Lithgow Public Library, Augusta; the Harlow Gallery, Hallowell, and the Thayer Hospital Art Gallery in Waterville.
