Vintage Fisher Price Little People #931 Hospital COMPLETE/NR MINT + BONUS!

Here is a CLASSIC, Vintage Fisher Price Little People Hospital play set (#931) in NEAR MINT condition. This offering is 100% COMPLETE and includes the exceedingly RARE bed screen and VHTF nurse with her mask! Moreover, I have inserted a couple of other pieces to increase the number of open ended play opportunities.

The Hospital's EXTERIOR lithos are INCREDIBLE (EXC++-NEAR MINT). All of the lithos are present, clean, and bright with clear, crisp graphics. The colors are RIVETING---no fading here! There are no ABSOLUTELY no stains or discolorations on any of these lithos. I've literally gone over this piece with "a fine tooth comb." The ONLY imperfections I can find are :

1. One, tiny tear to the the left of the window and approximately five small bubbles on the Bus Stop litho;

2. One, 1/8" L x 1/16" W bubble on the main Fisher Price logo;

3. One, faint 3/4" L x 1/16" W gray mark radiating to the left off of the front step on the front Hospital litho; due to its color, it's barely visible; I may or may not be able to remove this with a careful cleaning; I don't want to run the risk of further damaging the litho---especially since this mark is virtually invisible;

4. A handful of small bubbles, ranging in size from 1/8" L x 1/8" W to 3/8" L x 1/8" W, on the red crank litho;

5. Two, small bubbles on the flag litho on the back of the Hospital; and

6. One, 1/4" L x 1/8" W tear on the grass litho under the back windows on the Hospital; this is extremely hard to see by virtue of its location;

I know my description sounds horrendous but these "imperfections," by and large, do not jump out at you. I literally had to hold this base up to within 3" of my eyes and rotate it in the light to discern these "flaws."

The INTERIOR lithos are GORGEOUS! In my opinion, they warrant a NEAR MINT rating. After much scrutiny, I can only detect the following:

1. Four, barely perceptible tiny bubbles towards the top of the Jungle Animals litho;

2. Two, miniscule bubbles on the Garage litho;

3. A handful of teensy bubbles by the pond litho on the inside front flap;

4. Two, pin-head size faint spots on the blue checkered floor;

5. A couple of bubbles on the lower margin of the INTERIOR Fisher Price logo; and

6. A few faint rubs on the blue "carpeting" on the fold-down playground litho.

The rest of the wall and floor lithos are PERFECT! The Teddy Bear, Elevator, Pharmacy, Nurses' Station and top floor lithos are unblemished. Once again, the "flaws" I've listed above on the INTERIOR lithos are EXTEMELY minor in nature. All of the INTERIOR lithos are free of any stains, marks, punctures, or fading.

All the plastic surfaces are rich in color and free of any chips, "dings," cracks, breaks, or abrasions. Other than a few extraneous marks, some soiling, and some light surface scratches, these plastic surfaces look "BRAND NEW." I'm confident the soiling and marks will come off with a careful Q-tip cleaning. I believe the light surface scratches will be largely invisible after an application of Armor All wipes and a gentle buffing.

The hinges on the front flap are intact, with no cracks or chips, and the door latches securely when closed. The elevator, garage door, elevator doors, floor indicator arrow, and bell all work as designed. There are no cracks between the slats on the garage door. In general, I would categorize the plastic surfaces on this piece as being in NEAR MINT condition.

Besides this MAGNIFICENT play base, this set includes the following accessories:

1 HTF red and white ambulance w/Fisher Price written on the wheels (EXC++-NEAR MINT--some minor dulling of the wheel caps; I believe these will brighten up with a generous application of Naval Jelly; once they do, then this ambulance will warrant a NEAR MINT-MINT rating);

1 VHTF wheelchair (NEAR MINT);

1 VHTF working scale (NEAR MINT-MINT- the red arrow returns to 20 lbs. when the character steps off the scale; most of these have had their inner springs break over time and they don't reset back to 20 lbs. on their own; some light surface scratches);

1 VHTF operating table with attached oxygen mask (MINTY MINT);

1 RARE gurney w/velcro strap (NEAR MINT: NOTE: while the gurney's strap presently demonstrates some light soiling, this strap will be an antiseptic white once I clean it with a Chlorox bleach pen; once this occurs, this piece will warrant a MINT rating);

2 hospital chairs (MINT);

1 HTF X-ray machine that works (MINTY MINT);

1 HTF hospital scrub sink (MINT);

2 HTF hospital beds without ORIGINAL FOAM (VG++--NOTE: After taking these pictures, I decided to replace the beds in the photos with some in better condition. The ones I photographed had considerable edge wear on their headboards, side railings, and bottom of their legs. The new beds, if they possessed all of their original foam, would garner an EXC-EXC++ rating);

1 HTF cradle (MINTY MINT); and

1 RARE white bed screen (MINTY MINT).

To add to the fun, the set comes replete with a cast of hospital personnel and a family of four. These ALL PLASTIC Little People include:

1 HTF, red bodied blonde girl with bangs (MINTY MINT);

1 tall, blue bodied Mom with blonde pony (NEAR MINT-MINT);

1 tall, green bodied Dad with black, heat stamped hair (MINTY MINT);

1 RARE baby without bib (NEAR MINT--light rubs to eyes; NOTE: THIS PIECE IS UNIQUE TO THIS SET; FP produced other babies with bibs or with a bonnet and bib but they did NOT go with the Hospital play set);

1 HTF Caucasian doctor (EXC++- mild edge wear around the bottom and middle of the piece);

1 HTF African American ambulance driver (EXC++-NEAR MINT--scratch on the top of his head; rest of the piece is in great condition); and

1 RARE nurse (MINTY MINT).

To add to the fun, I have included two more pieces:

1 HTF red mini-bus (VG-VG+--part of litho on left side of mini-bus is missing; all of the other lithos are PERFECT); and

1 HTF yellow bodied boy with smile and red cap (MINTY MINT).

Due to time constraints, I have not yet cleaned this play base or its accessories. However, you rest assured that this toy will be thoroughly Q-tip cleaned before I send it to its new owners. I spend a MINIMUM of 1 - 1 1/2 hours cleaning each and every VINTAGE Fisher Price play set I sell (except for those clearly marked in MY ROUGH ROOM). I clean EVERY nook and cranny in these VINTAGE Fisher Price play sets (e.g. including up inside the elevator tower, the ceiling, the underside of the base etc. etc.).

This is DEFINITELY a COLLECTOR quality Fisher Price Hospital. It would also make a FANTASTIC gift for a Hospital Child Life Specialist, a Speech-Language Pathologist, an Early Childhood Special Educator etc. It would also make an engaging toy for some lucky child.

REMEMBER, this VINTAGE Fisher Price play set is NOT included in the recent Fisher Price recall of toys manufactured in China. This play set was manufactured in the good ole' U.S.A. in 1976!!!! It's 36 years young and still exemplifies Fisher Price's reputation for imaginative, durable toys. Why take the chance on buying junk or toys that may contain dangerous amounts of lead when you can buy a classic toy like this?

Purchasers should refrain from allowing children under 3 years of age to play with these toys without adult supervision or to offer these toys to children who may be still mouthing their toys.
