Photos by studios in Unadilla, New York and Oneonta, New York. On-line research reveals she was born in 1868, most likely in Unadilla, New York, the daughter of William Henry Sewell and Lettie Laraway Sewell. She died in 1948 and is buried in Saint Mathews Cemetery in Unadilla. Her sister was E. May Sewell, born August 14, 1867 in Unadilla, New York and died in 1939 in Unadilla. E. May Sewell married J. Gould Hoyt on June 17, 1890. E. May Sewell Hoyt was also buried in Saint Mathews Cemetery in Unadilla. Another sister may have been Lettie Sewell. Measure approximately 2.5 x 4.25 and 4.25 x 6.5 including mounts. Condition: These are original photographs, not copies or reproductions. They are both in very good to excellent condition. Comments: These photographs originally came as part of a group lot of Sewell and Winans family photographs (all sold individually). Other Sewell family photos in our inventory include: William Henry Sewell; E. May Sewell and her husband J. Gould Hoyt; Mrs. A.H. Sewell (mother of Dorothy Sewell Metzger); Lette Sewell; Belle Sewell Kent Schlager; and E. Lena Sewell. All of the Sewell family photos were taken in studios within the state of New York. Meanwhile, on-line research reveals James Albert Winans, grandson of William Henry Sewell, was born on February 8, 1872 in Sidney Center, New York and married Matilda Sweet (1874-Unknown). Our reserve inventory includes several Winans family antique photographs (all sold separately) including Isaac Winans and family (Oxford, New York photography studio); Joseph Smith Winans (Sidney Centre, NY and Centre Point, Iowa); Henry Winans (Oxford, NY studio); James Albert Winans (Sidney Centre and Utica, New York studios); William "Will" Winans (brother of James Albert Winans, died at the age of 15); and Lide / Lida Winans (sister of James Albert Winans, died at the age of 17).
